YCC Thursday Practice, Dinghy and Yingling Training

During the sailing season (April-October), the YCC runs practice sessions every Thursday night except on public/CERN holidays. The idea is that all members of the YCC can gain experience, both on boats for which they hold a license and on those for which they intend to get one.

Thursday Practice

Thursday Practice Boat Key Distribution

For committee only: Calendar of key distributors.List of boats (pdf).

Allocation of places on the boats starts at 18h00 in front of the Buvette de Port Choiseul, next to the Moby Dick sailing school.

A committee member collects preferences, tries to match the wishes of the participants with boat/skipper availability.

Participants in the sailing courses are expected to take part in a certain number of practice sessions. This may be an opportunity to try out boats other than those on which they are taking a course. Also interested non-yet-members are welcome to try our boats once, if there are free places available and subject to the green light by the person allocating the keys.

Sailing lasts in general from 18h00 to 20h00 or sunset, whichever is earlier.

During these practice sessions, there is always surveillance. That is why we count on all our members to volunteer at least once per season to participate during one of he Thursday night practices. If you didn't sign up for this year yet, please have a look at the surveillance pages.

Introductory Tour

Once per month, during a Thursday Practice, an introductory tour is held for people who are thinking of joining the YCC and at the start of t These tours consist of an introduction to the YCC, complementing the information provided by the documents available on the web.

Tuesday Dinghy and Yngling Trainings

After all the courses finished, we offer training sessions for Dinghies or Ynglings on Tuesday evenings.

During these sessions we have surveillance, so you will be able to also sail a boat without having the key (given that wetaher conditions permit it, you have some experience with the boat and the person organizing the training on that day is fine with it). If you are just looking for experience you can also be crew with someone who already has the key.

The trainings is from 18:00 to 20:00, and if you are not on time your place might be attributed to someone else.

To subscribe (or cancel) for a training session, login at

You can subscribe and unsubscribe until 15:00 each Tuesday. It is possible to pre-book both the Dinghy and the Yngling training, but sailors will have to choose one of the two before the deadline

There will also be the possibility for tests, but please announce this a few days in advance so that it can be organized.
