Yachting Club CERN founded in 1968, is the largest club at CERN, open to non CERN members, counts more than 350 active members sharing their passion and enthusiasm for sailing. We own a fleet of 29 boats of different types. We promote sailing in all forms. Social activities, Courses of multiple levels, practice sessions, sea cruises, internal regattas and we participate in some of the most important regattas of the Lac Leman. We sail usually from April to mid October, but we have some winter activities too. Versoix - Port Choiseul, close to Geneva, is the port where we have moored all our boats. In addition to the lot of the activities, Active Members have the unique opportunity to become YCC Skipper and reserve boats for private outings.

Important: Active Membership gives access to most of the club sailing activities. Membership does not guarantee access to sailing courses, except LEVEL0.
Course places are awarded through the lottery extraction. Since 2020, lottery registration is open only to members and closes the March 17th. Please foresee ~10 working days to process your enrolment. Reimboursement of the membership fees is not possible.

Membership types:

Active members: The "active members" are eligible to participate to any Club activity, anytime. Anyone wishing to take part in courses must be registered as an active member.
Active Junior : The "active juniors" have the same privileges as active members, but must be at least 16 and not more than 25 years old on 1st April of the current season.
Friend Members: The "friend members" can participate to the social activities, but may not use the Club boats as skippers, nor participate to the Thursday training, dinghy days, dinghy training's and external regattas on YCC boats.
These members are primarily boat owners or persons participating in sea cruises. Friend members are not eligible for tests and courses.
Honorary Members: The "honorary" title is assigned by the General Assembly – on the proposal of the YCC Committee – to members who held for a long time a task beneficial to the Club.
Honorary members have the same privileges as Friend members, but are exempt from the membership fee.
Temporary Members: The "temporary members" are short-term visitors to CERN (contracts up to 6 months). They have the same privileges as active members. Temporary membership is for 2 months maximum and non-renewable. Entrance fee remains due if a full membership is requested at a later date.

The fees for the season can be paid from the day after the General Assembly (check it on the calendar as it may change each year, but it is usually in the second half of November). They cannot be refunded. No pro-rata reductions.

NB: The request for a Swiss Sailing licence during the year should be sent to the YCC Secretary with a proof of payment of 80 CHF to the Club.
